Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Operationally managing the x-ray service across all UHB sites including ~300 staff and 90 pieces of x-ray equipment. Maintain the H&S for all staff, patients and visitors including adherence to radiation legislation. Have control of the budget.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It has been hard work but it has been very enjoyable. There has been a lot of information available to us through the online learning portal.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Learnt about the wider NHS and what the ideal NHS would look like. Learnt new leadership skills. Developed my research, critical thinking and writing skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
There was an mix up in the calculation of the gateway period which resulted in the preparation period for gateway being shortened by 4 weeks which was not the best solution. Would have been better to extend the length of the programme instead.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They have given me the help I needed. Imaging has its own practice & education team which has been of great help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My tutor is available to contact, however as they only work the beginning part of the week sometimes you can be waiting for a reply. The other course tutors are available.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Improved my knowledge and therefore my ability in leadership skills. My staff follow my example so I need to be the best I can be. Has increased my confidence in my abilities and reduced the opportunity of imposter syndrome.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are some. I now do yoga on a Wednesday evening directly after work with my colleagues. I also have caring responsibilities outside of work which limits my ability to go out. I am speaking at a national conference in June and I can attend the lectures on that day.
