Occupational Therapist Review

I am an Occupational therapist who works within a community service supporting early discharges from the acute setting and preventing hospital admission. I am also a team lead within my team and manage 20 therapists and assistance as well as having responsibility for service improvement and design.
My clinical role includes assessing patients in their home environment and through adaptation and goal setting ensure they return to base line levels of function.
My managerial role includes all aspects of supervision and individual development, supporting with caseload management and ensuring the staff voice is heard within development of the service.
I identify service developments and complete projects within the team and wider to facilitate these developments.

There were a few times that it felt chaotic during the teaching elements. It was all conducted remotely, however it was advertised as hybrid, but in person was never offered. It improved towards the end of the course, I understand that there was vacancies within the teaching team which resulted in the issues.

My immediate line manager and therapy lead offered high levels of support as I required it.

There was support available from the academic writing team. My supervisor met with me at scheduled times throughout, which increased when completing my dissertation.

It has prepared me for the next step in my career, by exposing me to roles that I would not need in my current position.
