Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role includes supporting clients by preparing credit profiles for investment and debt portfolios, maintaining counterparty lists, and assisting with client communication and helping onboard new clients. I am also part of the Credit Team, where I support and publish credit updates and developments. My role also includes organising client workshops, preparing materials for client meetings, and distributing regular economic updates and daily rates.
Alongside my role, I am studying part-time with CIPFA for the Level 7 Professional Accountancy Qualification, further developing my expertise in public finance and accountancy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I highly enjoy my programme. I am studying and working in a field which I find interesting, and have settled in well to the company. I have lots of support from colleagues with my work, and everybody is friendly and helpful, which makes the apprenticeship very enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have significantly developed my excel (and other Microsoft Office skills). I have also developed my knowledge of economic/financial terminology. My communication skills have improved, as I have learnt how to communicate in a professional way with clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very organised and structured. I always have a good level of work to be completing, and have had multiple catch-ups with my line manager. I have time to complete all my work and also have a good amount of time to study.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my employer. I have had multiple catch ups with my line manager, as well as other colleagues, who are always around to help if I have any issues or questions. I always feel well supported at work and am not hesitant to ask questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Lots of support - my line manager joins progress review calls with me and my college coach, which ensures I am making good progress with my qualifications, and gives me the opportunity to raise any concerns I might have about my studies. I am also surrounded by multiple coworkers with this qualification, or who are also studying the same qualification as me, which allows me to ask questions to people with experience if I am struggling with any content. I also have weekly calls with another colleague who is a CIPFA student who covers difficult topics with us.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helps me within my role a lot - I explore topics that are relevant in my work, in detail at college, which helps me better understand my role and the role of others around me. It helps me gain a better understanding of the different terminology that is used, or different subjects that are discussed.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - I have been to multiple work events. Within the company, we have had two work social events. Our company has hosts workshops twice a year, and I attended one in December, where I met clients and listened to presentations given by colleagues. I also had to opportunity to attend the Joint Investment Forum in London, where different fund managers spoke, which was a good networking opportunity. In June I will be attending a CIPFA event in Birmingham with a colleague too.
