Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I provide comprehensive and pro-active administrative support to the Managing Director (MD) and Senior Leadership Team. I support with inbox and diary management, meeting preparation, report writing, correspondence and coordination aspects, including project support and deadline management. I am the first point of contact for key stakeholders across the business and ensure the MD is fully supported.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme and would highly recommend it. I have a fantastic support network within the workplace who take a genuine interest in my progress which I appreciate as I can share my learnings - some of which have also supported a colleague so definitely multiple wins there! The content of my course is engaging and my learning coach continuously offers additional support should we need which is reassuring to know.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned new skills around presenting, whilst my role does not require a lot of presenting, the skills I have learned have helped me to understand the preparation element of a presentation and how best to captivate your audience. This is particularly helpful as I often support our MD with the creation of presentations. I have also reflected upon my developed skills, these have included organisation, maintaining our management system effectively and continuing to work on strategies to best promote a healthy work-life balance. Whilst these skills are key criteria within my apprenticeship, they align closely with my role and have improved the confidence I have in myself to carry out my job role effectively.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
At the start of my programme I received a delivery plan which details each unit of the course along with the assessment criteria, so from the very start I received a thorough understanding of what to expect. Within the delivery plan, it outlines a requirement for my attendance at webinars every other month or so which is lead by my learning coach. All of the content of the units are briefed clearly and there are always lots of opportunities to further discuss the content to ensure there is a mutual understanding across the group. I submit my work via an online portal and enjoy the ease of viewing this to obtain a clear understanding of my progress and whether I have anything outstanding.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received amazing support so far during my course. I am fortunate to have multiple colleagues who ask how my course is going, what I have been learning and whether they can offer any support to me. When I have reached out to members of the team to support me with any assignments or case studies, they have always found time for me and helped me to answer all queries I had for them. I truly am incredibly lucky for the support that my employer provides.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support from my training provider is really positive. I have liaised with multiple members of the training providers team since enrolling and going through all onboarding requirements. I can honestly say each member of the team have been positive and happy to help. They truly care about apprentices progress and getting the most out of the apprenticeship programmes. My training provider also have additional courses that you can enrol on to develop further skills, such as their mindfulness course. This course details strategies to best manage your work-life balance. I really like that my training provider have gone the extra mile to ensure there is plenty of support and additional training on offer for apprentices.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel as though the criteria of my qualification provides plenty of cross over to my role. Whilst my qualification is in something slightly different to my role, I still support my employers team with this area so its helpful for me to be able to further expand my knowledge by undertaking this qualification. The skills and behaviours I feel are super relevant to an office based role so have supported me greatly.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, within Turnbull there are multiple working groups to get involved with - examples of these would be our Women at Work group and Culture, Inclusion and Diversity groups. These groups meet bi-monthly to discuss various topics and explore ways in which we can make improvements to better support the business and wider team as a whole. Team members will often be welcomed to support with events such as recruitment evenings and are also often invited to any awards galas where Turnbull have been shortlisted for! I am very excited to be attending an awards gala later this month and have my fingers crossed that Turnbull are crowned as winners!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Turnbull Infrastructure & Utilities Ltd to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Turnbull are a people company - they care about making work work for their people. There are plenty of development opportunities and forums to provide feedback. Monthly 121s are held with each employee to talk about how things are going, employees are encouraged to own these 121s and address items that are important to them - this also better supports the line manager to understand how they can support their team members. A company wide survey is sent out every six months to obtain feedback around what makes Turnbull a great place to work and where improvements could be made. Off the back of this feedback, promises made by the SLT for items they are actively going to work on improving which are reviewed every 6x months. Company wide bi-monthly briefings are held to keep everyone in the loop of whats going on and whats coming up. All in all I feel as though Turnbull truly cares for its employees.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Turnbull Infrastructure & Utilities Ltd?
Absolutely go for it - you wont regret it!
