Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Overseeing all administration duties, including onboarding, delivery management, scheduling, asset management, and document control systems. To ensure the smooth running of the Support Services Team and focus on improvement and best practice whilst ensuring that actions are taken on and completed promptly.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I fully enjoyed my course; the monthly lecture sessions were engaging, and I felt supported throughout the duration of the course. I was able to take key aspects from my monthly Lectures and transfer the skills in to my day to role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt how to manage conflicting situations, motivation techniques to inspire the team, and the key steps of planning a project. The course has also taught me the tools to build a high-performing team and how managing myself is key to this. I've also learnt the functionalities of organisational governance and how it relate to my day-to-day role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My particular course was a roll-on, roll-off apprenticeship, which meant there was no order in which you would start each of your 11 units. Individuals would enrol a different stages, but I felt each session had a depth of content and was structured enough to gain the knowledge you needed to complete the assignments.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received regular support, and my tutor was easy to contact if I had any questions during my apprenticeship.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I received regular support from my line manager, who has a wealth of experience in management. There were also other team members within my team who had already completed this course, so I was gain extra support and guidance during my course.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As mentioned above, the course gave me transferable skills through its unit, which I could use in my day-to-day role. There were certain situations that I could manage with more confidence and process that I could improve with the tool learnt from my course. I also feel that being in a leadership role helps be gain a better understanding of the unit within my course. I found a lot of the required evidence was easy to navigate because I was already in a leadership role.

Turnbull offers a range of activities that you can get involved with in and outside of work, including recruitment events and internal working groups that allow you to build working relationships and gain development skills.
