Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis, I carry out site visits which involves making sure safety practices and company procedures are adhered to on site. After my visits, I complete an audit spreadsheet that reviews the visit and provides pictures.
In addition to this I complete office duties daily also.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as I feel like I have been encouraged and supported throughout the course. My colleagues are always available to help me with my apprenticeship work and give me support on my day to day duties.
Penshaw are also very supportive and have remained constant throughout.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt numerous skills since joining Complete Fixing Solutions Limited in November. These are skills such as First Aid training at work, how to carry out PAT testing on portable electrical equipment, how to build mobile scaffolding, etc.
Working here has also allowed me to develop my leadership skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It took some learning to get adjusted to the programme as I am used to a learning style that is directly led, coming from a degree background.
Despite this, I can now appreciate the structure of my programme as it allows me to schedule my learning with respect to my work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received a lot of support from my employers. My manager/ mentor regularly checks in on my progress and offers me support. This makes me feel majorly supported as I can see evidence of my employer interested in my apprentice work.
Support is easily accessible from my other colleagues.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I speak on zoom with my trainer each month. In our sessions, we go over the work I am currently doing and have a mixture of learning and answering questions.
I have great accessibility to a wide range of support from Penshaw View and really enjoy my learning with them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification through Penshaw has helped massively in terms of allowing me to perform better at CFS.
I am able to put all my learning to practice and learn more about H&S than I would just by going on site alone. For example laws and regulations and case studies.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are not currently any extra-curricular activities running in our company at the moment due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty of whether restrictions may be put in place again.
However, prior to COVID, CFS would hold company events or employees and sometimes with clients, i.e. Christmas Meals or activties.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Complete Fixing Solutions Ltd to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because Complete Fixing is a great company to work for, with lots of support and great benefits. My progress is always encouraged with whatever training I need/ ask for.
I would also recommend Penshaw View as I feel they are also very supportive, and apprenticeships offer great career perspectives.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Complete Fixing Solutions Ltd?
I would advise them to organise their work so that they never feel overwhelmed or miss a deadline. There is not much to advise on the application process as it is quite straightforward and did not take long at all.
I would encourage them to take on opportunities when they can.
