Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Support on the organisation's learning offer by carrying out LMS admin and reporting/analysis. I coordinate training sessions and advertise the learning offer to staff. This includes two yearly learning events which allow for collaboration across the organisation, including the fire service.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed all of the workshops delivered by my tutor and felt these were really engaging, and taught me some interesting things around theories and ways of working. They prepared me well for EPA.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My communication and confidence skills have massively improved as I have had more exposure to doing presentations in team meetings and through projects for my apprenticeship. I'd say my customer service skills through email and over the phone have also improved.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Very well structured with regular workshops and reviews with my tutor. However, I felt from the start it could do with more support for learners from the training provider around using SmartAssessor. I uploaded some work in the wrong place at first so this could have been avoided. There was also some confusion with the structure of the time log which could've been clearer from the start of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Plenty of support from my line manager and colleagues, as well as allocated off the job time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Regular check ins and reviews available with my tutor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Absolutely! I gained a promotion after completing my apprenticeship due to my increase in confidence and skills both on and off the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are staff networks and events available to attend through work, as well as sports teams and clubs available to join. There is always the opportunity to attend networking events if they're useful to your role.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Greater Manchester Combined Authorities to a friend?
Yes
Why?
An inclusive workplace and just so much going on! The work of the organisation is so vast and there is plenty of opportunity for progression and learning from others. As a staff member I feel valued and appreciated.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greater Manchester Combined Authorities?
Think about the work of not just GMCA, but also TfGM and GMFRS when applying and interviewing. The group function covers so much in the region and there is so much to link your skills to.
