Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Supporting the Vocational Qualifications arm of the business with any data requests including data analysis, building user reports for specific products and operations, and other ad hoc responsibilities. This manifests in the context of inter-team meetings as well as reaching out to members of the company across a number of different divisions to understand their business needs and how we can support them.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am enjoying my programme a lot, it is a good balance between challenging and stimulating. The course content so far is aligned to my long term goals and targets in my role. In particular the workshops are engaging and coupled with the real time support on these they ensure we are able to complete all programme components.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have already developed my current skills on this programme, in particular my programming skills in Python. I have also further developed my knowledge and capacity with mathematics, which I had previously identified as a weak point of mine and something I wanted to improve upon. I am excited to continue on my programme to learn new skills I will be able to apply in my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is highly organised and structured with an online portal and workshops for all taught aspects, and multiple assigned points of contact for support. The online portal has a breadth of pre-reading and further reading for all programme content and this means I am confident with the content once I complete the independent work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive significant support from my employer, not only from my immediate team but also ambassadors across the business. My employer is a corporate member of the Association of Apprentices and we have an early careers team who are always on hand for any issues or support I need. As well as our initial induction with my provider we also were given a programme induction from my employer so I know the avenues of support and opportunities available to me here.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have received great support so far in my apprenticeship, the systems in place in terms of mentorship and coaching are hugely helpful. The pre-reading and further reading have already been invaluable to comprehensively understand the course content to date and the weekly workshops are a good platform for consolidating this knowledge.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I know this qualification will massively impact my role in a positive way, it will enable me to level up my capacity to deliver in the role and progress professionally and personally with the skills garnered from the qualification components. In particular the skill sets from the qualification that do not currently exist in my team will be applied by myself and will level up the team's overall capacity.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At my work we have sports teams that enable us to socialise and have fun outside of the office; we play football fortnightly which is funded by our employer and also play other sports casually with team members. More widely in the business there are regular networking events both internal and external.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pearson to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Pearson is a stimulating environment and enables me to be not only my best professional self but also my authentic personal self, it is a really welcoming environment and this shows in our employees. When I come into work I feel motivated to do my best to deliver for our learners and centres.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
You should have a vocation for helping others (in our case our learners and centres) and also be a motivated self starter. Pearson is big on professional development so there are a lot of opportunities to do so, if you are applying to Pearson have this in mind with regards to your short to long term career goals.
