Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Day to day tasks can vary greatly. The role involves collaborating with the Service Management team as well as external teams on various projects that are commonly linked to the apprenticeship modules. As a Service designer, on a day to day basis I work on multiple projects that aim to improve the service we deliver, enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and improve user experience for both internal and external stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed the Service Design Apprentice programme. Working on real world projects in a collaborative environment with the support from the service management team and my manager specifically have been invaluable and enabled me to grow professionally. The programme has been challenging as well as rewarding and Pearson has been incredibly supportive in my development through the apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
As someone who was new to service design as well as the education sector and service management, I've gained an extensive amount of knowledge and experience into the industry. I've also developed new skills in service blueprinting and enhanced my skills further in stakeholder engagement and user research.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I was the first cohort for the service design apprenticeship when it was launched. The course itself was intensive but there were many areas of opportunity for changes in the timings of the assessments in correlation to the modules as they were taught. This feedback was taken on board and improvements were made for the following cohorts.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been incredibly supportive throughout the entirety of the apprenticeship. Pearson have a highly supportive apprenticeship team with mentors, ambassadors, regular networking sessions as well as access to extensive learning tools such as Linkedin learning. My line manager and team also offer continuous guidance and support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Feedback and support, particularly on the lead up to EPA has been thorough and the tutor has been very hands on ensuring I received all the tools and necessary guidance to prepare for my EPA.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe the qualification and the development I've made over the past year and a half has given me confidence when performing my role at Pearson. The real world projects that involved actively applying the teachings from the modules taught at JGA have enabled me to practice the tools I will need to be successful going forward in this role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many extra curricular activities that are run throughout the year. These include networking events, seminars, sector related events ran outside of Pearson and many more.
