Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day-to-day responsibilities vary depending on the projects I am working on. Generally speaking, however, my duties include the preparation and presentation of deliverables (such as estimates and cost reports), the undertaking of on-site valuations, the cost and commercial management of projects, and liaising with the wider project team.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely learnt new skills and developed my existing skillset. For example, I have learnt many new technical skills, such as measurement skills and Microsoft Excel skills. I've also developed existing soft skills, such as communication skills, presentation skills, and analytical skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well organised. There are annual salary reviews and frequent touchpoints with my universities apprenticeship outcomes officer.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I am well supported by my employer. I have a line manager who is able to provide guidance. Also, when I first joined the organisation, I was supported by a 'buddy' who helped me settle in, provided me with work, and answered any questions I had.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I am well supported by my training provider. They are easy to contact, they provide additional support if you are struggling, and I have frequent reviews with them to ensure that I am on-track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my performance has mostly benefited from on-the-job experience rather than any off-the-job training. Despite this, through working towards my degree, I have become aware of important concepts and trends within the construction industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes - there are sports teams, socials, and the opportunity to attend networking events.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arcadis?
- Research the organisation, their values, and the projects they've been involved in. In doing so, you will see whether the organisation is a good fit for you. If you reach the interview stage, it's also good to demonstrate an understanding of the organisation, their history, and their goals.
