Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am the nurse in charge of the shift and I have to oversee the running of the ward. At the end of my day, I have to ensure that my team and my patients are satisfied with the outcome of the day.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy every bit of my life as a nurse. I enjoy representing my patients at their meetings and advocating for their needs. I enjoy the doors that my career has opened to me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learn all the time in my role, both from my colleagues and the patients.
I have learnt to go straight to the point with my writing whilst building an accurate picture of the events described. I have become more passionate about the care of my patients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I experienced studying through COVID and although it was different from the traditional way of studying, it gave me the flexibility to study whilst spending time with my children.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I was well supported by my employers and my colleagues during the programme. I was given ample time to study and focus on my learning.

My qualification has opened a lot of doors. It has given me the opportunity to dream and believe that I could achieve a lot more than I thought possible.

There are some networking events but I have not been involved in any.

The Priory Group has given me the opportunity to achieve a lot to benefit myself. I started as a HCA, my team saw the potential in me and they have invested for me to become who I am today.
