Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to be friendly and do all I can for the parents of the children I look after, and safeguard the children during the day even while they are sleeping by doing sleep checks making sure they are breathing. I also serve the children’s food and water and if there is a child with an allergy I will sit with them and make sure they don’t have an allergic reaction or accidentally eat another child’s food. I also make sure the children are supervised at meal times by sitting with them and they don’t choke on anything and if so I will do first aid on them.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme as I enjoy my job as I love to see the children reach their developmental goals.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt the day-to-day routine of the day, and how to do the nappies correctly by making sure not to walk away from the changing mat when a child is on it and wiping a child’s privates from front to back and report any marks to the manager or the room manager for safeguarding. I also have learnt First Aid and I use it on a daily basis by using a Cold Compress on the children if they fall over and hurt themselves.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured well, I have had a few mentors and been passed from mentor to mentor which is a bit confusing to keep up.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get a little bit of support from my employer as they always ask me how it’s going and when they think I will be qualified.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I get quite a bit of support from my old training provider as they used to always get back to me straight away with my assignments and a little bit of support from my new one as they seem to not get back with my assignments so quickly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that the qualification through my training provider is helping me perform a lot better as I am learning a lot of new things I wouldn’t know just working in the environment.

Would you recommend Busy Bees Childcare to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a brilliant place for the little ones to start their journey before school and develop all the skills they need, they will have all their meals prepared by the cook and have lots of fun activities during the day in the room or outside in the garden. We also put everything on the ParentZone App to inform the parents and tell them all about what their children are doing during the day and what they’re eating and when they’ve had their nappy changed or how long they’ve napped for.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Busy Bees Childcare?
I would give them the tip of having the motivation and resilience to get the qualification as it is a long qualification but you will get there in the end.
