Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Design of electrical control systems using AutoCAD and seeing the design through the manufacturing process to site installation and commissioning. I work as part of a team on my project to deliver a high quality complex control system for customers in the Nuclear sector. I communicate with the customers and with experienced engineers to ensure a product of high quality is developed that meets all requirements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my job but the programme itself was very stressful at times when trying to balance work with meeting assignment and exam deadlines. The lessons were often interesting and had a good balance of practical work and application.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my knowledge of electrical engineering and the usage of tools such as AutoCAD. I have developed my teamwork skills and communication skills. Everyone I work with is very accommodating and willing to share their knowledge and experience.

We were always told way ahead of time when assignments were due in.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer was very accommodating throughout the apprenticeship and I was always provided with the support I needed when I asked for it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Depends on who you ask for support but most of the staff at staffs uni are very supportive
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Some of the material covered was irrelevant to the job I perform but most of it has helped my improve at my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of extra-curricular activities such as charity events, some sports teams and professional networking events.

Why?
Ambitious employer with largely like-minded staff, a good work environment and good staff facilities. In my experience they have always been accommodating towards any interest I have shown in learning new things even outside of my job role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capula?
Generally what you give is what you get back so go in with a good attitude and you'll find yourself in a team of like-minded individuals.
