Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Liaising with project managers to ensure that their projects are financially on track. I manage the accruals, purchase orders and budgets for their projects. This means I interact with both internal to Royal Mail PMs and external PMs as well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme is hard work but I find arriving at a solution very satisfying. I'm given plenty of support from my team which helps with the studying process.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Developed my communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders. I also have control of my own workload which has taught me prioritisation and developed my organisational skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well structure, especially compared to other apprenticeships I have done. I book onto each course at my own pace, allowing me to plan my exam timetable and work accordingly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots, I'm given 20% of my working week to complete work for my course as well an extra half day before each exam.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Lots, they email every couple of weeks to check how everything is going. We are encouraged to ask questions during the courses and are called by a tutor every 3 months to set goals to keep us on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
My training has given me a wider view of the business and I can see where the role that the course helps us to fulfill would fit into the business but my training is of slightly limited help to my current role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
We have team evenings every so often but these are organised by the team members as individuals and are not part of work. It is something I wish would improve and see more effort from the business to encourage team building.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Royal Mail Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a flexible place to work that pays a good apprenticeship wage. Almost everybody is friendly and lots of support is given to apprentices and they are shown that they are clearly valued by the business and are being trained to progress in their careers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal Mail Group?
It's been several years since I applied and I don't know the process anymore. But if accepted, you should take every opportunity that comes your way and build relationships with everyone you interact with.
