Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Higher Education Assessment and Quality Analyst Apprentice, my role involves supporting the smooth delivery of quality assurance processes across higher education programmes. On a day-to-day basis, I manage and allocate CRM queries to ensure timely responses, process manual payments for external stakeholders, and assist with the coordination of assessment-related tasks. I regularly use a range of IT tools and software packages to create clear, structured documentation and process maps, helping to improve team efficiency and consistency. My responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, contributing to project work, and supporting continuous improvements aligned with team objectives.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, especially the opportunity to apply what I’m learning directly to my role. It’s been rewarding to see how my contributions—like improving processes, creating clearer documentation, and supporting quality assurance—make a real difference to the team. The variety in my day-to-day tasks keeps things interesting, and I feel like I’m constantly developing both personally and professionally.
While balancing work and study can sometimes be challenging, the support from my colleagues, line manager and Apprenticeship team has made it a positive and valuable experience overall.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, throughout my apprenticeship I’ve developed a number of key skills. I've significantly improved my ability to manage and prioritise tasks independently, particularly when allocating CRM queries and handling manual payments accurately and on time. I’ve also strengthened my communication skills through regular interactions with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
In addition, I’ve gained new skills in using IT tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lucidchart to create clear, user-friendly documents and process maps. These have helped improve team understanding and reduce duplication. My problem-solving and attention to detail have also developed, especially when identifying inconsistencies or gaps in processes and finding ways to improve them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Overall, my programme is well-organised and structured. There’s a clear framework in place that outlines what’s expected at each stage, which helps me stay on track with both my learning and my role-specific responsibilities. The regular check-ins and support from my coach and line manager have also helped me stay focused and reflect on my progress.
There have been a few occasions where juggling deadlines or accessing certain resources has been a bit challenging, but with good communication and planning, I’ve been able to manage these effectively.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a strong level of support from my employer. My line manager has been consistently approachable and encouraging, offering guidance when needed and checking in regularly on both my workload and apprenticeship progress. The wider team has also been supportive, sharing knowledge and giving me opportunities to get involved in meaningful tasks and projects.
I’ve also had access to useful tools and resources, such as time to study, feedback on assignments, and support with using new systems.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. My skills coach is approachable and responsive, offering guidance during reviews and being available when I have questions or need clarification. The feedback on assignments is constructive and helps me understand how to improve and meet the required standards.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that my qualification has helped me perform better in my role by giving me a stronger understanding of key business concepts such as communication, organisation, and continuous improvement. The learning has been very practical and relevant, allowing me to apply new skills directly to my day-to-day responsibilities — for example, improving documentation, managing tasks more effectively, and using data to support decision-making.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are a range of extra-curricular activities available at work. Pearson offers various social events, virtual catch-ups, and wellbeing initiatives that help build connections across teams. There are also professional networking opportunities, such as internal communities and development sessions, which allow me to engage with colleagues outside of my immediate role and learn from others across the business.
We have social days where the team arrange an activity and food. For example beginning of April the team when to Maxwells for a lunch and before the Christmas break last year we went for darts!

Yes
Why?
Yes, I would definitely recommend Pearson plc to a friend. It’s a supportive and inclusive place to work, with a strong focus on learning and development. Since joining, I’ve had access to great opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. The team culture is positive, and there’s a genuine effort to promote wellbeing, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
If you’re applying to Pearson Apprenticeships, I would recommend being prepared to demonstrate both your technical skills and your ability to work well within a collaborative team. Pearson values innovation, so showing how you can think creatively and adapt to change will definitely stand out.
It’s also important to be open to learning — Pearson offers plenty of opportunities for growth, so take advantage of any training, development, or mentorship available. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek support when needed; the culture is very supportive, and people genuinely want to help you succeed.
