Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working with the team to ensure the end to end delivery of our qualifications from signing off papers to agreeing grade boundaries. I am responsible for managing the team processes such as forecasting, contracting, scheduling and supporting the Assessment Leaders. I also work on multiple technology development initiatives to look at where further development can be made to enhance our working processes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have only recently started my programme and so far I am enjoying it. It has been a bit of a struggle to get back into the mindset of being a student and having to complete assignments as it has been a while since I was at University. Overall I am enjoying the programme and am looking forward to continuing it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed existing skills for example, time management and public speaking confidence. I have learnt new skills to do with analysing problems and highlighting where improvement can be made. I have learnt about new methods such as root cause analysis and y=f(x) which I can apply in my daily tasks.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It has been well organised and structured. Lots of information was provided at the start of the programme which was very useful and interesting. Regularly scheduled meetings and events in advance also have shown how well organised the programme is. There could be some improvement on the organisation but that is only minor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received lots of support from my employer. I had a programme induction from my employer which was separate from my training provider. There are also apprenticeship ambassadors who offer support throughout my programme which is very helpful. The early careers team also provide support through attending Gateway meetings and helping with mocks and EPA prep.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
As I have only recently started my apprenticeship this one is hard to comment on. I would say so far I have had support from my tutor and training provider to work towards my qualifications and I have felt supported. They are always on hand to answer any questions and help where needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Already I can see the benefit of my apprenticeship and how it is helping me to perform better in my role. It is helping on the admin side as I have learnt skills to do with time management and organisation. It has also helped me frame my mindset to look at things from the perspective of an improvement practitioner which has helped to highlight where processes can be refined and improved.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
As most of my colleagues and I work remotely there is not a lot of extra curricular social or sports activities to get involved in. However, there are plenty of amazing networking events that happen regularly. These range from general networking and apprenticeship specific networking opportunities. These are great for expanding your knowledge and making connections across the business.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pearson to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Having worked at Pearson for 6 years I have had a great experience so far. They are a supportive employer who offer great benefits and opportunities such as the apprenticeship programme and volunteer opportunities. There is also a wide range of role which can offer great professional development and progression opportunities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
I would advise people to do their research on Pearson and what our core goals and objectives are to ensure that you align with those. I would also suggest to go into the application process with an open mind, as mentioned previously there is such a vast range of roles and departments at Pearson so any opportunity to join the company is great.
