Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Through the apprenticeship I was trained to be a part of the production engineering team, focusing more on the electrical aspect of production equipment, such as electrical maintenance, testing, breakdown rectification, circuit and equipment modification, etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Due to being born outside the UK, I have come from an education system where apprenticeships are way less popular, so there was a little skepticism from my part at the beginning. However the program has proven to be absolutely enjoyable, have learned several new technical and communicational skills along the way, while also deepening my technical knowledge.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned or improved on several of my skills relating to the field, such as understanding UK workplace legislation, understanding of electrical principals/systems, electrical circuit design, working with Programmable Logic Controllers, working with Computer Aided Design software packages, improvement of communication, confidence improvement and others.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure of the programme can was broken down into 3 different individual Qualifications and 2 Functional Skills diplomas, encompassing 4 years. While I was happy with this organisational approach, I believe the programme could be reorganised so it takes shorter.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As much as needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
On the centre based qualifications support from the trainig provider was as much as needed, while on the workplace based qualification the beginnig was a bit less supported, although this was Covid period.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
By giving me the basic theoretical and practical skills of many different aspects of the role I carry out, I can say that it helps massively.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
In house coaching sessions, company sports challenge, company party, support of charities, engineering day trips and others.
