Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As the Associate Recruitment Operations Manager, I oversee recruitment activities for three separate teams. I have three managers who handle the day-to-day operations, while I focus on strategic planning and direction. My daily tasks include coordinating with my managers, reviewing recruitment metrics, and ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.
Internally, I interact with team members to provide guidance, address issues, and facilitate communication across departments. Externally, I liaise with stakeholders, and vendors to ensure smooth recruitment processes and maintain strong relationships.
My responsibilities encompass overseeing recruitment strategies, managing team performance, and driving process improvements. I am involved in various projects aimed at enhancing our recruitment processes, implementing new technologies, and optimizing workflows.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I greatly enjoy the apprenticeship programme as it allows me to upskill and earn my qualification. The programme provides adequate time off for study, enabling me to focus on my learning. Additionally, I can bring new knowledge and skills back to Pearson, enhancing my contributions to the team. This balance of practical experience and academic growth makes the programme highly rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I am constantly learning and developing new skills at Pearson, particularly through the projects we work on. Engaging with technology allows me to understand how different systems interact and function technically.
In 2025, a significant development in my role has been managing managers. This new responsibility has required me to adapt and enhance my leadership skills. I now regularly interact with my managers to drive team performance and process improvements. This has been a valuable learning experience, helping me grow professionally and contribute more effectively to our projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
he apprenticeship programme at Pearson is very well-organized. They have apprentice ambassadors alongside a dedicated apprenticeship team that provides any assistance needed. This support ensures that we, as apprentices, get the necessary time to complete our studies and succeed in the programme. Additionally, the networking events help us connect with other Pearson colleagues who are also undertaking the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We receive as much support as we need from our employer. We have our managers, the apprenticeship team, and colleagues who are also doing the same apprenticeship. Additionally, we are provided with a mentor to help us throughout the programme.
The comprehensive support system ensures that we can balance our work and study commitments effectively. Regular check-ins and feedback sessions help us stay on track and address any challenges we face. This supportive environment fosters our professional growth and helps us succeed in our apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We receive as much support as we need from our training provider when working towards our qualifications. We have study coaches and regular one-on-one sessions with them and our managers. The university also provides a range of support tools, such as the study skills team, which reviews our assignments and provides feedback based on academic style, and a library team that ensures proper referencing.
Additionally, the training provider offers workshops and online resources to help us develop our skills further. This comprehensive support system ensures that we are well-equipped to succeed in our studies and achieve our qualifications
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification through the training provider helps me understand the reasoning behind my tasks and responsibilities. It provides names and structures that we can follow, making our processes more organized and efficient.
Additionally, the qualification equips me with theoretical knowledge that complements my practical experience. This combination enhances my ability to perform better in my role, as I can apply structured approaches and best practices to my daily tasks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have a sports and social team where we can choose to get involved in extra-curricular activities. The apprenticeship team regularly organizes networking events to ensure that apprentices always have colleagues to meet and support each other when needed.
Additionally, there are various professional networking events that provide opportunities to connect with other professionals within Pearson. These activities help foster a sense of community and collaboration, making the work environment more engaging and supportive.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pearson to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Pearson to a friend because it is a great company to work for. Pearson embodies the principle of continuous learning, providing ample opportunities for professional growth and development. The supportive environment, comprehensive training programmes, and engaging extra-curricular activities make it an excellent place to build a career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
Be yourself and apply for any position you feel you would be a good fit for. If you live near Rotherham, we are always recruiting for seasonal casual workers from April through August to help process exams and ensure everyone receives their grades on results day. This is also one of the best ways to secure a permanent job at Rotherham, as over 60% of the permanent workforce started on a temporary contract at some point.
