Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves moving between the different functions in HR; currently I've completed a placement in recruitment, and am now completing a placement as a HR advisor, with a further 2 placements to complete.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Thoroughly. I've received some great support internally and had plenty of opportunities to drive and direct my own learning so far.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes - I've gained general skills for working in a corporate office but more specifically developed in stakeholder management, project development, and organisation through time management.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured but not micromanaged - that is, I've got an overarching structure but my day-to-day is managed by myself to fit what works best for me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots; I've got two internal mentors, one former apprentice for assistance in programme material and one senior HR colleague for navigating and understanding the world I work within.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Our training provider is OK, and do provide support when asked, but the training materials they provide could be improved - especially on guidance surrounding the assessments we partake in.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification will significantly help me in terms of people practise, allowing me to develop a rich knowledgebase for a wide field and leaving me with pathways to follow at the end of my course.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes - I've had the opportunity to get involved in plenty of extra-curricular events through various internal networks.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Severn Trent?
Tailor your application, take time to read the advert and really consider what value you could get from the course offered. Ask questions on phone calls, emails, and in person. Read up on company values and what we do as an organisation.
