Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On the day to day basis, i am responsible for subcontractor management, attending and leading meetings, change control such as submitting early warnings and compensation quotes, producing compensation event quotes and allocating project costs for reporting. I liaise with different stakeholders such as the design team, planning team and the operations team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Working with individuals from all over the business and learning something from each person. I enjoy the variation of going out on site and being in the office, and learning on the job which i can apply to my university course.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my communication skills and time management skills. I have also learnt new excel skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Extremely - i am given 1 day a week to attend uni lectures and my colleagues are understanding of this time requirement. I also feel apart of the team and always have tasks and jobs to do!
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots of support, and made to feel that no question is a silly question, even when asking my fellow peers all the way up to the senior leadership team. Everyone is happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have 1:1's with my mentor from my training provider every 12 weeks to check up on progress and attendance. This is also good as it highlights any opportunities or issues i may be having, and is a time to reflect with my line manager.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It gives me a broader understanding of quantity surveying and allows me to develop skills that i can apply in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Lots which is something I really enjoy here. I recently attended a paint and sip activity at the workplace where i got to meet other colleagues and there are also lots of volunteering days i can join, which is encouraged by Balfour Beatty.
