Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in the finance team for Adult Social care in the Barnsley area. I assist in the completion of financial assessments for people in the local area, as well as completing many administrative tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme. I am learning new things every day, whilst also gaining a qualification.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed my accounting capabilities whilst studying the AAT alongside my work at Barnsley College. I also believe I've developed my communication skills in the way I interact with colleagues and clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well-organised and consistent. I attend college the same day every week, as well as working from home on the same days each week.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support, often attending one-to-ones with my manager. I am also able to complete revision when I have upcoming exams.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
As I stated in the previous question, I am able to attend college one day a week and also able to take additional time to revise for my upcoming exams. I am also offered assistance from my colleagues who have also completed the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualifications give me a greater insight into finance. AAT qualifications cover crucial areas like budgeting, financial statements, bookkeeping, and tax regulations. These are fundamental for roles involving financial management or analysis
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
We are often notified through emails of any upcoming events in the town centre, however in terms of events specific to the organisation. I wouldn't say that this is something that is always ongoing
