Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Managing posties
Admin tasks like rotas, prep plans and overtime
HR issues like back to work, OH referals
Daily briefings and on the job training.
Dealing with customers complaints
Delivering organisational projects at a local level.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The program was good. However, I did find some elements quite repetitive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Learnt theories and management tools to support me at work, and also with my professional development.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It was well organised for most of the time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I was given the 6 hours a week to help complete the programme
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My skills coach was very supportive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It helps frame situations and conversations with the use of knowledge drawn from the course. However, there are some elements that do not fit that easily into the day to day work within Royal Mail.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Not that I am aware of.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Royal Mail Group to a friend?
No
Why?
Royal Mail is quite antiquated in its approach to working. I know that it is trying to change, but it has a long way to go. Its communication is woeful, and trust is non existence within Royal Mail. This is true of how they have dealt with certain elements of the apprenticeship and our next steps after completing the programme.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal Mail Group?
Think carefully about doing the apprenticeship. Do it for yourself and not what Royal Mail say they are going to do for you. If you are looking to join Royal Mail I would suggest they do their research, speak to managers who are already working there to get an idea of what the area is like and what to expect. I believe Royal Mail has great potential, but is way off from achieving this.
