Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I provide regular and ad hoc reporting of cost data (forecast, budget, actuals), for internal and external consumption. This includes monthly cost reporting performance presentations for leadership, and completion of regulatory returns.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy it; the apprenticeship provides as structure to ensure that I am continually exposed to new learning opportunities, which management are really keen to support. I am developing all the time which gives great job satisfaction. I feel a huge sense of achievement for my progress so far.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned new technical accounting skills, and this is continuing to develop. Senior colleagues actively seek to provide opportunities to further my development, which includes soft skills such as stakeholder influence and communication. I have also developed project management skills through involvement in implementing new systems.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is really well organised. My manager is aware of the KSBs and gap analysis for my apprenticeship and is always on the look out for things that I can get involved in to help me continue to develop.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support could not be better. I have had 3 line managers so far over the course of my apprenticeship, and every one of them has been really committed to the programme. They have all said that my study time is more important than anything, even in busy periods.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider is excellent. I have regular progress reviews and they always offer extra one to ones if needed. There is also a service where you can contact tutors directly at any time with technical questions, and course tutors have offered extra support beyond their teaching classes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Study for the CIMA qualification benefits me massively - it is giving me an understanding of the technical accounting side of the role, so that I have an understanding of what's going on that I wouldn't otherwise have.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many support networks in the organisation for all sorts of things - I am a member of the Women's Network and the Menopause Network. There are often opportunities to get involved in sporting events such as rounders and pickleball, and there are always community volunteering events.
