Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as a Software developer. As I only started in September 2024, much of my work so far has been individual training. As I am part of the Microsoft department I have been gaining Microsoft certifications and have been introduced to project work as I gain experience
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my experience a lot. At times the time management can be a struggle but I see it as a challenge to become more motivated. I feel the balance between work and study is nice and everyone is approachable for help and guidance

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt to use many Microsoft systems I had never heard of before starting my apprenticeship, such as Power Apps and Dynamics 365 CRM and ERP. I have also learnt new coding languages such as C# and developed my soft skills further through working as part of a team

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is structured well, we have one day a week dedicated to our degree studies which some weeks may include a lecture. This is more than the legal requirement for 'Off The Job' hours which reduces the amount of stress I feel about the university assignments
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I can ask for as much support as I need although I never have personally. My line manager always offers to help wherever needed and gives advice based on her vast knowledge of technology. Previous apprentices who have done my course and are of a similar age group to me are very approachable and happy to help
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Most of the QA lecturers I have had so far have always offered to help out where needed, we have an 'Office Hour' every Thursday where you can join the call to ask any questions you may have, otherwise they respond to emails in a timely manner. I also have a Digital Learning Consultant (DLC) who helps more with wellbeing support and admin
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
At times the learning can line up nicely with the work I am doing which is always helpful. I have found learning the theory specifically around information systems in my first module has helped my understanding of systems used in my workplace and helped my studies for the MB-910 Microsoft exam
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have Early Careers modules for new joiners which include social activities and workshops that provide an opportunity to connect. We have a shared office space with people all across the companies departments who we can talk to. I myself have been involved in organising some 5-a-side football after work with the Manchester office site rep

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company is big on wellbeing, even providing us with a 'wellbeing hour' which is an hour off work each week to do whatever we please. The company cares about is employees and offer support wherever it can. Everyone I have met have been very kind and helpful to me, making Fujitsu a organisation I look forward to working for each day
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?
Fujitsu is a competitive company to get into, I was rejected from a degree apprenticeship role in 2023 but then applied again in 2024 and got the job. My advice would be to find something about yourself that stands out, leave an impression on your interviewers and give them something to remember
