Within my role, I manage numerous sites across the world with my team to ensure the smooth running of our IT operations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My programme is really exciting, especially with all the international opportunities. The work load is easily manageable and the uni work is easy to complete alongside my day to day job.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt data analysis skills, improved my confidence and expanded my network. I have also learnt a range of soft skills varying from time-management to public speaking skills

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well-structured from both work and uni sides. I gain invaluable insights into the energy industry as there are lots of opportunities to gain skills and attend events in different areas of the company.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is unlimited support from the company as a whole, not just our natural and direct teams. Any issues and concerns are dealt with quickly and the company really makes you feel welcome.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is easy to contact and my designated tutor is really friendly and genuinely wants me to succeed. I can reach out to my tutor at anytime and the lectures and workshops are well-structured.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I often find that what I learn at university matches my job. I can adapt my learning to different projects and I love having extra contextual knowledge from my work that I can use in my uni work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are loads of employee networks to get involved in, especially for young people. There are endless amounts of learning and networking events that help you make friends. There is something for everyone!

This programme allows you to excel in the area of the business that you work in. There are loads of business and social opportunities as well as leadership opportunities as well. The pay is really competitive and goes up regularly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Shell?
Don't panic about getting relevant work experience, be yourself and find a way to make yourself shine through giving specific examples to questions. Make sure you research thoroughly who the company is and what we do! Good luck!
