Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Testing Concrete on and off site, installing thermal couples to monitor concrete temperatures and give us a rough estimate of strength, general laboratory work and crushing cubes to give us strengths.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme, however working on shift the college calls can sometimes be at very inconvenient times.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt countless more skills as-well as building on many too, this apprenticeship has massively helped me get out of my shell and learn about a whole world that i didn’t even know existed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Referring to my last answer, my only problem is the awkward times of calls, aswell as flexibility.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A fair bit, plus they upskill me frequently by sending me on all sorts of different courses.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I call my training provider once every two weeks, however i am in frequent email contact with them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Very well, i learn more in depth about why we may do a certain test and the ins and outs behind all laboratory work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, for the first two years of joining as an apprentice we get to go on a 4 day residential in the lake district once a year with all sorts of activities to take part in.
