Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role at Capula is in the Service & Support department. I am on the National Grid team which involves handling fault and support calls for all of the kit Capula installs on Grid sites. My day to day role involves testing equipment, attending site and maintaining Grid's stock.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Capula has done a fantastic job helping it's apprentices to settle into the business. Our first couple days were spent getting to know each other before we went into different areas of the business and they have provided plenty of opportunities to keep in touch.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Capula has taught me how to fault find electronics using drawings and how to repair them, they have also taught me how to test the equipment. Throughout my apprenticeship, I will be taught how to install new kit on site in a professional manner.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Capula has been running its apprenticeship programme for many years so they have made the process as easy as possible and are still improving like our outward bound trip. There is also many current and ex apprentices on the same programme who are mor than happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Capula has offered me support throughout my apprenticeship by allowing me to prioritise uni work when I need to and even colleagues and managers taking time out of their day to help me with assignments and KSB's.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Capula supports me with my qualifications by providing opportunities to achieve KSB's like the school and PowerStation visits. The also track my progress to ensure I'm not falling behind and to identify where I may need more help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Currently at university, I am covering analogue and digital inputs in electronic circuits. These inputs and outputs make up the functions of the IC's that I am working with day to day so it has helped me to better understand these components.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Capula attends many open day events at highschool, college and university level which I have been invited to attend and present at. They also organised a week long outward bound trip for apprentices which was a great social event for us involving caving, climbing, project planning, teamwork etc.

Why?
Capula has been very welcoming and the people here have made me feel like an employee of the business rather than an apprentices whilst still allowing me time to focus on the university side, which is a great feeling and not something I have experienced at previous apprenticeships so they have done exceptionally well.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capula?
Advice I would give to others applying to Capula is to say yes to every opportunity that is offered, there is many experiences I have had that I would not of gotten elsewhere and have greatly benefitted me with my job and outside of work. They have given me more confidence and knowledge to do what I enjoy doing.
