Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Daily tasks includes, providing data insights to internal colleagues. Analysing data using various languages (SQL, Pyhton, R) , creating reports and dashboard in Tableau. Working with stakeholders across operations, sales and assessment teams as well and senior managers to support their data requests. Improve data literacy across the business and support managers with ad hoc request when necessary.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The Pearson employee apprenticeship programme is very well structured. There is plenty of support for apprentices from managers and mentors. Apprentices also rotate on a 2 years cycle to be apprenticeship ambassadors for the local office. The ambassador role provides opportunities to support other apprentices within the business as well as attending external events and represent Pearson and its apprenticeship programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
During my apprenticeship I have learned new languages such as Pyhton Pandas. I feel more confident in my SQL code writing skills. As I am getting towards the end of my apprenticeship I am also able to create more appealing dashboards and to provide more insights to the business so that they can make informed decisions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme from the training provider is well structured and is easy to follow and to stay on top of things. The tutors and data mentors are very helpful and always on hand if you need any support. The Pearson apprenticeship programme is very well structured. Managers are fully involvement from the start and a mentor allocated internally to each apprentice so that we are fully support throughout the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Within the Pearson apprenticeship programme we have the support of managers and mentors. My manager is fully supportive of me and is committed to help and support when needed. I am also supported by a data mentor, a senior member of the data analyst team, This role is a great help when it comes to the more technical aspect of the job and the apprenticeship. We can also count on the programme manager and other apprentices for help and support. All apprentices are also invited to a programme induction when they start so that everyone is aware of the support available.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Although there is a no qualification linked to the standard I am on, the system used by the training provider is very user friendly and gets you to practice what you have learned. It simulates a real working environment. The coach and data mentor provided by the training provider are very knowledgeable, helpful and always available.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel more confident in my role now that I am almost completed the apprenticeship. The skills and knowledge I have gained through the course have helped me in creating more insightful dashboard and also better knowledge of our data and how it is structured. I am able to complete data request much faster and with little support.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are, we organise social activities within the team and we also have events for apprentices and apprentices ambassadors both in person and online. Usually when events are organised for apprentices some professional development is also offered as well as some social and fun activities. Pearson also offers 5 days volunteering which can be used to support any cause.
