Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I, along with the team I'm on, provide technical support, both hardware and software, for our company's field service engineers. Our company focuses on intelligent traffic solutions, such as traffic signals. An example of what I might do is help the field team get their electronics working, or to help troubleshoot a traffic sight that's proving difficult to fix.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it a lot, all my colleagues I've met are great. My team has a good culture, and there is a lot of support for apprentices in the company. The work i do is varied and interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to better use various technologies, both in hardware and software. I have learnt better communication skills. I have learnt how businesses operate. I have learnt some electronics. I have learnt how traffic systems operate.

It is pretty well structured and organised, with clear targets and plenty of check ins.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive plenty of support from my employer, and have not felt unassisted when I've needed it.

I receive plenty support to complete the tasks I have for college, such as allowing me time to focus on it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My program teaches mechanical and electrical engineering, much of which is relevant to my job role, allowing me to better understand what I'm doing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are plenty of options, for example the football team which gets to travel for games, and I like to play pool with colleagues at lunch.
