Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role on a daily basis, turn up to the job to make a plan, have a look a what needs repairing, speak with the customer. Come next day with prepare, covering up, moving furniture to ensure the customers property is looked after. If it is a ceiling will, locate joists, board in the morning, will come back a skim, once finished time to clean up & make sure the customer is happy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

To a very high extent i enjoy my program & i am very passionate & eager to learn more about my chosen trade to prefect to the highest degree

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to plaster, my social skills have risen highly from interacting with all different diverse people.
Going out to work related events have helped me to developed my social skills
My functional skills are developing follow being supported by my co-Ordinator to have a dyslexia test

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

In the main it is very organised, I know what I am doing every day & where I will be so scheduled well. My days very planned out who I am working with. I have regular meeting with my employment co-ordinator who also liaises with my line manager & college to arrange meetings, check in's & progress reviews.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support on a daily basis, the technicians i work with are supportive. I regular meetings with my employment co-ordinator to check my well-being, discus & address any problems i may have.
I receive £500 towards my driving lessons. I was supported to have a dyslexia test which found out i was dyslexic. I am doing my functional skills with support. supported to CSCS card
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel i receive a lot of support from my theory tutor & practical tutor - waiting on a new assessor to start.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Through the theory side as i get talked through things like rendering, mouldings things i do not do in my every day job
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

WCHG put on social events however, I personally do not go
Recently employer has introduced a Apprentice Peer Network Group where all the apprentices get together & provided with food
I attend functional skills once a week at one of WCHG community centres
I enjoy attending local events that promote / revolve around apprenticeship in the local community - I even went to my old high school on national apprenticeship week to do a school assembly

Would you recommend Wythenshawe Community Housing Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend to a friend to do an apprenticeship at wchg, because the work life balance is good, lots of benefit's i.e. driving lessons, health & wellbeing, good working hours. Lots of support in place, meetings & training. All round enjoyable experience & the pay is the real living wage
