Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day to day role is to carry out various different repairs across properties linked to plumbing. I shadow a qualified technicians for practical learning on the job, this includes interacting with many different tenants. As well as this I spend one day a week at college
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship a lot because this is progression from a previous level 2 plumbing course at college. I feel like I am learning a lot & how to do things, I feel supported by the technicians I work alongside as they give me responsibility to carry out repairs but are always there to check & advise.
I enjoy finding faults & repairing them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
New skills I have learnt include: fitting baths, renewing basins & toilets, pipe up hot & cold feeds, been able to locate problems & where they stem from, changing taps, mixer showers in addition to plumbing also learning other areas of multi-skilled such as bath panels, boxing in pipe work
Developed my customers service skills & I now feel more confident in talking to tenants & colleagues

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I feel in the work place is structured very well, I know who to go to following an organised induction. I met regular with my Line Manager & also have an Employment Co-Ordinator who oversees all of WCHG apprentices who i also meet on a regular basis if i have any concerns with College she will support me & contact college where needed & ensure progress reviews are booked in which take place every quarter
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have a Line Manager, Employment Co-Ordinator (mentor) & technicians who all support me in different ways but will also come together to discuss what is best for my progression.
If there was an issue with College then I know I would be fully supported by my mentor to deal appropriately with the college
I know who to get in contact within my organisation when necessary
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a good amount of support towards my qualification. My tutor makes sure we are revising the correct and relevant material which will benefit me. Also my training provider supply's us with the correct books to learn from. My tutor feels involved with in my apprenticeship and makes sure I am getting the correct experience.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel like my training provider helps alot in terms off giving me useful information, about the work I am carrying out ar work
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At WCHG there are many different ways outside of work we van connect with tenants. For example we go to schools and do a concept off guess my trade. Where children interact with us and ask us different questions about are roles at the company.
