Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a learning specialist within a internal people function. I consult, design, develop and evaluate learning programmes. I also do research into learning technologies, upskill others in using these technologies and work with stakeholders to implement them.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
My programme was good, it did need some improvements, however, overall it had a good range of activities to improve existing skills and develop new ones.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes - I have learnt about the energy industry. Also learnt some new learning and development skills that did not follow under my responsibility in my previous role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
E.ON have been a great support, especially my line manager. She was patient with me if a task was taking me a longer than expected. She also was great support in explaining or helping me with a task that was something new to me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Unfortunately I ended up with 4 different tutors. One particular tutor was not very helpful. When asking to clarify information they would just repeat the information on BUD. If I had, had my last tutor the whole journey, my journey would have been a lot better.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Some new skills were developed. A lot of tasks were completed with existing skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - we have development and inclusion networks.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
A very supporting company. They actually care about their people and their development and give space and time for people to take ownership of their development. They can also develop skills outside their main role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Be open about your development. You can ask to develop skills outside your role to then be able to change your career direction.
