Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day to day job varied by my placement which changed every 6 months but it always involved high level stakeholder communication and working towards deadlines with media partners and agencies. In marketing led placement, my role consisted of managing multiple campaigns simultaneously.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Throughout the duration of my programme, I enjoyed every aspect of it, whether that was creating content for social media or going to industry and political events on behalf of the organisation. Naturally, there was many challenging moments, especially during busy university periods but knowing that the outcome was a wealth of experience, kept me going.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since starting, I've transitioned from a shy, reserved individual, to someone who is able to confidently present in a group of people and manage stakeholders effectively to ensure deadlines are met and stakeholders are pleased.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course is structured about multiple 6 month placements in different areas of the business of our choosing which was extremely beneficial in giving exposure to different parts of the business. Despite this structure, we had the choice to extend the placements which proved useful when wanting to gain more experience in a certain placement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The early careers team were extremely supportive throughout the apprenticeship and offered regular check in's with apprentices to manage placements and expectations. They also had a major role in doing our end of year and end of placement reviews which were insightful in developing our skills and knowledge areas.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Similar to the early careers team, the university would have termly check ins to manage student progress and our task of completing the apprenticeship portfolio. Since the cohort was small as well, we had more support directly with course leads and lecturers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification directly impacted my performance by allowing me to have exposure of various components of marketing which was required in my day to day role. It allowed me to upskill myself both in the workplace but academically.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There's plenty of internal networks like the embRace network which focused on promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I'd highly recommend E.ON to young people who are unsure or their future aspirations post college. Even if you don't have a focus in the energy industry, the knowledge and skills you earn can be transferrable to different industries and jobs. I've learnt so much about myself since joining and can clearly say I'm a different person to who I was before joining.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Take the leap and don't be afraid to step in to the unknown, even if you think the energy industry isn't for you.
