Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work with our third party travel account managers (which I meet on a monthly basis) to manage the operations involved in our business travel and to ensure our employees are recieveing the required service. I also work with them to improve our travel reports.
I collect carbon data and I report on this both internally and I help to advise on the numbers and some of the wording in our environmental sustainability section in the annual report.
I analyse office attendance using Power BI software which is then reported to senior managers to help make decisions on desk usage
During budgeting, I work with Finance to help analyse our proposed budget, ensure all items are captured in the budget and explain any variances to our previous years budget
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have now finished the apprenticeship programme but I did enjoy both the technical and behavioural skills I have learnt and developed through the apprenticeship. I would say studying and working was challenging at times but I had supportive colleagues and managers to help me through the exams. Overall the apprenticeship was a positive experience and I am very proud to have completed the course

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have improved my confidence during the role as I have been exposed to external meetings with our third parties. I have learnt to challenge our third parties when necessary to help us to recieve the service our employees are expecting. I have also learnt technical skills, especially on carbon accounting and the different scopes involved, and I have developed my Power BI software skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme was well organised and structured. The course content was easy to understand with well defined levels and it was clear which exams I need to pass in order to progress to the next level. I also found the requirements and the recording of the 20% off the job hours straightforward.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Man Group has been very supportive through the apprnticeship. I was encouraged to take my exams and they provided me the study days I needed to revise for upcoming exams. They have been supportive of the off the job hours to help devlop my key skills. Our talent team also helped me when I had challenges with my final project report and ensured the tuition provider was giving me the required support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The lectures were very good and there were some fantastic lecturers. I really liked the Kaplan online materials and resources. Kaplan also ensured I had a talent coach to help develop and monitor my key skills and behavioural to prepare me for the end of point assessment
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have learnt technical accounting skills. In my current role this has helped when I have to budget for costs such as business rates, facilities service costs, leases etc. The behavioural skills I have developed have also improved my communication to stakeholders and I now have the confidence needed to part-take in discussions and voice my ideas
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, each department has their own team events and we have an annual Winter and Summer party. We have access to wellness classes (including Yoga, Barre, Boxfit) in the London office. Man has also signed up to JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. There are constantly opportuinites to join networking events, as part of my role I was able to attend a carbon emissions round table networking event last week. Man Group often has guest speakers come in to the office to talk about their career and to answer any questions we may have

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Man Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The main reason I enjoy working at the company is the supportive staff and caring culture. One of Man Group's strenghts is their Diversity and Inclusion programme which leads to progression opportunities for all groups of people. The work is interesting and I feel I have the help and freedom to really develop my career. Therefore I would thoroughly recommend anyone to join the company
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Man Group?
I would encourage people to be themselves, I think honesty and integrity are very good values to have and fit in well with the culture here. Also I would say to not be afraid to ask for help, everyone is very supportive and will be happy to provide assistance
