Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a Performance Data Analyst working in Social Housing. My role is to support the business’s reporting needs and advocate good data quality and integrity. This is essential for making evidence-based decisions so that we can strive to give the best service to our customers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the flexibility of being on an apprenticeship whilst continuing with my job. It felt like I was really maximising my time and I enjoyed the consistent opportunities to learn more about my field outside of my usual responsibilities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I refined a lot of organisational and report writing skills that are necessary to carry out my role effectively. I also learned a new programming language and the application of statistics in my role which helpfully combines my previous education with my job.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme was well structured with modules split over about 15 months, with 3-4 projects throughout. I feel like there was some disorganisation due to the programme being delivered virtually, so in-between sessions it was mostly self-guided and more difficult to pace as my first time as an apprentice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received excellent support from my employer. My manager had introduced this opportunity to me and continued to encourage me throughout the programme, allowing me time and space to run both my apprenticeship and daily role concurrently. My employment co-ordinator also provided extra support and check-ins to talk about my experience.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I received moderate support from my training provider. They were committed and prompt in the classes but I feel that there should have been a lot more guidance on planning and preparing our projects. The emphasis on learning time was much greater so preparing for our assessments felt rushed and incomplete.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My apprenticeship took place during my employment, so it was additional learning with my existing role. I felt that all the skills obtained are applicable and relevant. I have gained confidence to apply these new skills and the experience has boosted my performance which has seen lots of positive feedback ever since.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are various opportunities for social activities throughout the year including volunteering groups, organised walks and summer events.
