Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I take calls from customers to whom we provide managed IT services. I also receive emails asking for support. I then triage/troubleshoot these issue, create them as tickets with Microsoft Dynamics, then solve these issues or research a solution if it's non-typical. Excellent customer service is also essential.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I feel that the training provider provides a broad and informative course exploring relevant IT concepts in an engaging manner. I am also glad that we will have a detailed portfolio to show at the end. I enjoy the company's ethos and my colleagues are great, friendly and supportive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt how to troubleshoot typical IT issues, including how to troubleshoot through command line, in Microsoft Azure Active Directory and on Azure Virtual Machines. I have developed experience and achieved Microsoft certifications for providing IT solutions whilst learning lots about IT concepts with my apprenticeship training provider (Althaus).

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It's well organised - we have a clear structure of what live sessions we have for the entire apprenticeship programme. Node4 are good at giving us time to complete apprenticeship coursework too, and after co-ordination with management, we have a clear structure for what time we have available for this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my employer - they have given us tutoring to achieve Microsoft Certifications and provide us with structured time in which to complete our apprenticeship coursework. They have an open door policy, so any queries or concerns I have are always met with interest and help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have received lots of support for working towards qualifications, such as with Microsoft Credential exams. They are also supportive of me taking more of these exams to support me in my career goals, offer expert guidance, and provide easily accessible resources for me to study the exam content in-depth.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that the knowledge, skills and behaviours learned throughout the course of my apprenticeship help quite a lot in my current role. Having an in-depth knowledge of IT concepts, including troubleshooting, networking, and especially cloud concepts, helps me understand issues to a greater degree and will help in future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is quite a lot to get involved in outside of work. A bigger Christmas party for all offices would be really cool, but otherwise there is a big summer family event I am excited for. I have also started a chess club and a page for sharing cat pictures.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Node4 to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I really enjoy working here and I feel it is an excellent company to start off my career in IT with. My colleagues are great people to work with, the office is a friendly environment and I have ample support with a breadth of colleagues across departments to learn from.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Node4?
Check out the website so you get a feel for the company. Also, just be yourself - everyone's really friendly and encouraging and the managers are approachable. It's more important to be able to get on with everyone and integrate with the people at Node4 than being a genius.
