Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

fixing appliances and central heating systems, servicing boilers and carrying out gas safety checks. Speaking to customers and work planners if follow on work is required to arrange further appointments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i really enjoy the program i am on i learn alot and am interested in the field of work. Everyone i work with is pleasant and helps me to learn and meet the targets i am set.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

yes, I've learnt how to solder, repair appliances and diagnose faults. i have also learnt how to handle potentially explosive situations with gas and with tenants. i have also learnt how to provide a high level of customer service to provide a satisfactory service.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is structured well, there is always work to be done and someone to work with. Managers are always accessible and provide monthly team briefings to provide essential information on changes and safety concerns. Monthly progress reviews are carried out to set and meet targets.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i receive alot of support from fellow technicians, managers and my apprenticeship coordinator. Essential equipment and PPE is provided when necessary, and apprenticeship peer meetings are carried out to help support and build or relationships within the company for a better quality of life within the workspace.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have a good tutor (tony) who provides a good quality of training when available and is helping us where he can. However the college itself is lacking equipment and a backlog of apprentices makes it difficult to get in touch with our assessor and progress at the desired pace. Meetings are being set up to work on this and create a plan.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the training provided by our tutor definitely helps performance in my role, as it explains alot of the theory behind what were doing in a more controlled slow manor which deepens our understanding of why we are doing things.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

yes there are extra activities. There are seasonal events such as barbeques and parties: there are also lots of opportunities to learn better behaviours by attending evens such as local school days and giving out meals to the elderly/ needy.

Learn about the history of the company and the message it is trying to deliver. Make sure you align with the values of the company and make sure you show interest in the application process yourself as this shows good character.
