Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to work on the reception desk answering calls, booking cremations and appointments, taking customer queries and liaising with funeral directors.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my programme as I interact with families and funeral directors every day and build relationships with them. I am able to support families during an incredibly difficult time and be of assistance to them in any way I can. I enjoy my daily tasks of sending letters and booking funerals as well as being offered a range of projects to work on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my customer service skills as well as my confidence and public speaking skills. I have learnt how to be more resilient and compassionate when dealing with families, and become more adaptable to the changing work environment.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured and organised. The tasks I am set are clear and obvious and I rarely have to ask for assistance because of this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a good amount of support from my employer. They are incredibly informative and helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is incredibly useful and supportive. My mentor is friendly and always makes it known that I can contact them at any point.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification teaches me aspects of customer service like dealing with complaints and interpersonal skills which benefit me highly in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Staff are offered sporting sessions like badminton and football which are available through the Sandwell Intranet page. There is also an app, Hobby Health, which provides information on groups available within the council that link to staffs interests.
