Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves communication with various departments and teams, collecting data that is then collated and presented to senior stakeholders within the business. P&L management is another major part of my role, ensuring costs and revenues are recorded accurately to produce an accurate picture of cash/finances with departments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed the programme so far. I particularly like that we rotate through three different roles, spending a year in each one, to allow us to learn about more areas of the business. There are so many different parts of finance and it really helps your development to rotate through as many areas as possible. We normally get to cover, accounting, commercial and reporting roles during our time on programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed my Excel skills, learning how to use lookups, sumifs and index matches. I have also learnt how to use accounting software, SAP, and internal systems for report production. I have also been able to develop my communication and presentation skills through presentations to senior stakeholders and business partners within TUI.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is fairly well structured although there can be poor communication about specifics of the programme, however these are often more related to the training provider than TUI.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
TUI are very supportive and every new graduate is given a buddy of one of the current graduates to support them and answer any questions they may have. There are also a couple of finance staff that are in charge of the finance graduates who we also have regular catch ups with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training courses provided by the training provider are very good, the information is detailed and well explained. They provide lots of support as needed and there are lots of practise questions provided to help you practise for exams. Communication can be quite slow but the actual training courses are really good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification definitely helps me perform better in my role by developing my understanding of what I am doing in my day to day role. The accounting knowledge I have developed through my qualification has been crucial for performing well in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are lots of social activities run by the finance social committee and there are also wider events held by TUI. I wish there were more wider graduate/apprentice events run by TUI to allow networking with apprentices across the wider business.
