Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an HR apprentice, I have several different task such as drafting up offer and contracts, processing leavers and writing letters. My own personal responsibilities as part of my role included keeping a track of Return to Work after absences and ensuring Probation Review meetings are done. I have tried to look for opportunities to improve HR process and I have produced and drafted new forms more suited to my company needs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed my program a lot. I like how there are so many different parts to my role and every day I learn something new.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learned a lot about employment law regarding right to works and contractual law. I have also learned how to use different HR systems such as iTrent. Lastly, I think my communication skills have improved a lot in my time as an apprentice as I have become more comfortable speaking to people over the phone, in person and over email.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very organised. The structure was explained to me at the beginning of my apprenticeship and I found it very easy to follow.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received a lot of support from my employer. They always ensured I had enough of the job hours, and were flexible if I needed more time to complete assignments. All the members of my team were always happy to help me learn, develop and support me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I received a lot. My tutors were always gave me detailed feedback on the assignments I completed and were always happy to schedule meetings if I ever needed anything explained.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It was good to learn the theory behind certain things in HR through my training provider. My training provider also taught me more about things such as data analysis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, I have had the opportunity to go to several cricket events and networking events throughout my time as an Apprentice.
