Early Insight into J.P.Morgan 2021 Review

This virtual programme provided an insight into different divisions within J.P. Morgan including Asset Management, Markets, Investment Banking as well as many others. From this experience, you learnt what each role within each division entailed. There was interactive Q&A sessions and panels with employees from Analysts to Managing Directors. Also there was many case study exercises with peers which allowed us to practice our analytical thinking. Great opportunity to network and learn from experienced individuals in the banking sector as well as our peers.

It was a very eye-opening experience to see the variety of roles offered within each division and how they collaborate with each other. For example, how Sales interacts with Trading and Research within Markets. I found it especially interesting to learn about the 'day in the life' of many different roles including Investment Specialists, Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts. Furthermore, it was intriguing to learn about J.P. Morgan's business model and how they serve their clients with the variety of products and services offered across the bank. Most importantly, we got to hear from many different analysts about their responsibilities and roles when they enter the industry. For instance, we heard from a Credit Risk Analyst, Asset Management Analysts, Markets Analysts and Investment Banking Analysts.

Yes, there was great group case study exercises which gave us possible real-life scenarios that might be faced in particular roles. This allowed me to practice skills such as analytical thinking, presenting and communication. There was also a amazing session organised to improve our debating skills early in the week. Multiple networking sessions allowed me to build my confidence by asking questions to experienced individuals in the banking sector who were always willing to help.

The atmosphere was amazing as everyone from Analysts to Managing Directors were always willing to help and answer any questions you had about the industry or the roles. An example of this was the Senior Networking session where we got to ask questions to bank leaders in very small groups or one on one. Furthermore, I experienced the company culture to be extremely positive as they support ongoing professional development of skills and champion transparency, communication and trust. From what I heard from employees, they make them feel respected and this is supported by the fact that most of their employees and clients seem to stay a very long time with the bank. Furthermore, they have multiple initiatives working with different communities focusing on diversity, inclusion and environmental aspects.

I enjoyed the insight programme very much as it was filled with engaging sessions from multiple divisions which were very interactive. It was insightful to learn about different trends in the industry including ESG. Found it to be a great opportunity to see what interests me and see how different roles interact with each other. Also interesting to hear what different analyst's responsibilities involve. All the HR and Recruitment team were very organised, helpful and also answered any questions I had. Definitely recommend.
