Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Supporting the Occupational therapy team in the only neurorehabilitation unit in Cornwall. Assessing and treating patients, with diverse conditions, progressing therapy, prescribing wheelchairs, assessing cognition and function.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am very much enjoying the Occupational Therapy apprenticeship, it offers a great opportunity of being able to access a degree level course whilst be supported through work enabling a me to still run my home.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
New learning is happening weekly via the university and through self managed learning within my unit. Being exposed to journal clubs, attending external training and being given extra responsibilities.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Overall the course is well structured although more consideration could be given to those on the apprentice course who have to travel substantial distances. An increase in online learning would be beneficial.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My team is incredibly supportive, they encourage me to learn, offer lots of reflective and learning opportunities and are genuinely interested in what I am learning a the university.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Tutors are available to talk to face to face and via email. There are regular catch ups with the apprentice team from the university and I have access to a personal tutor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps to underpin the reasons why we do what we do by increasing the theoretical knowledge that sits alongside the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I attend local research group which involves OT's locally and internationally.
