Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
On a daily basis I organise visits for external people, collecting information they require, requesting accesses and booking meeting rooms. I also do some filing, work with consents and helping out other colleagues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy going to college as it inspires me to want to do more in the future and gives me ideas if what I could do. I also find being at work interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt some new skills specific to my department and how to use specialist systems.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The college programme is well structured. However, on the employer side of things, it took three months after starting work for my apprenticeship to actually start.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive support from my employer as they allow me to have my dedicated study time, however I don't always feel like they show much of an interest in what I'm learning at college.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The college give lots of support, offering catch up sessions vis Teams when needed. They also reply to any emails with questions quickly and clearly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think the qualification does help in some aspects, but obviously there are some subjects which get covered which do not relate to my current role, but could help in future jobs.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are lunch and learn sessions, department monthly catch-up sessions and occasional work outings (outside of work time, casual).

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust to a friend?
No
Why?
I probably wouldn't recommend it for an apprenticeship if they are wanting to get stuck straight in as it took three months before I could start my apprenticeship (which I thought would have been organised before hand). I also have a friend who has had this same experience and has had to wait for their apprenticeship to start after starting work, and has the found out they could not do the course which had been advertised. However, once you get started with a good provider, it is a good experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust?
Make sure you are able to do the course advertised and that it is pre-arranged to start shortly after you start working.
