Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

my role is to provide support to the training department by carrying out a variety of different admin tasks. Such as chasing providers for certificates, uploading certificates onto our systems and booking employees onto training courses externally, as well as being in charge of keeping all drivers CPC trainings up to date.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my apprenticeship, as I feel that i have been able to apply my work to the theory of my apprenticeship. I am able to see how things relate are use my own experience to my college work. My programme provides resources which helps me to progress in my learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills, this mainly involved learning how to use Excel effectively. I also have developed my communication skills further by having to communicate across different departments within the company. I feel like I have also learnt the skill of prioritization, through having multiple tasks to complete but understanding that some are more important then others and need completing right away.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My apprenticeship programme is well-organised and structured, combining practical workplace training with academic learning. The schedule is clear and manageable, with regular assessments and support from my tutor. I feel like the programme helps me to develop my skills and learn new ones through my different projects which give me a better understanding about businesses.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great deal of support from my employer throughout my apprenticeship. They provide regular feedback, mentorship, and training opportunities to help me grow and develop. My manager and team are approachable and always willing to help. This support makes me feel valued and confident in my development and progress.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive strong support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications accessible. My tutor is very helpful and provides clear guidance, regular feedback, and help when I need it. the resources and activities are well-organised and easy to complete. This support helps me to build confidence within my apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification really helps me do better in my role. What I learn is relevant and easy to apply at work. It’s helped me understand things more clearly and boosted my confidence. The apprenticeship relates well with my job, so I can see the progress I’m making every day.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At Marlborough there are various social events that go on. There is Marlborough Socials, which are events that all employees can attended. They also hold events such as the Red Star Awards. These awards are presented by the directors to employees who have been highly nominated for things such as the Rising Star award and Best Manager awards. This gives all employees a chance to nominate their colleuages and be recognised for their hard work.

Marlborough Highways is an amazing company to work for, as it is a very friendlily and welcoming environment. The environment is also very motivating, as my colleagues are very encouraging. and if you have any new ideas everyone is very supportive. I also like that they take time to recognise all employees for their hard work across the company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marlborough Highways?
I’d recommend being open to learning and asking questions as everyone is really supportive. Show a good attitude, be reliable, and be confident in your work. Make the most of any training opportunities and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. It’s a great place to grow and build experience.
