Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work within a Tui store as a travel assistant. My job role on a day-to-day basis varies depending on customer needs. Sometimes I spend all day searching for holidays, assisting in existing bookings, or working in the bureau. this is all accompanied by my off-the-job training.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy how each day brings new and exciting challenges. Everyday I am meeting new and returning custom and gaining the opportunity to build rapports with everyone. I am also enjoying working as part of a team to create a welcoming atmosphere not just for customers but also for myself being new to the company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt both new and existing skills. I am now confident in using all different systems involved in my job role and also gaining knowledge on how to recommend different holidays to customers. By having previously worked in the travel industry I have been able to develop my skills on travel jargon and the different plane types that Tui use and where they fly from.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Overall the programme is very well organised. Every 6 weeks or so I have a catch up call with my assessor in which we discuss my progress and next steps. However she is always available to answer any questions within those 6 weeks. She is always ensuring that I have enough training tasks set and enabling me to reach my full potential. I feel surrounded by very knowledgeable and trustworthy people who I often turn to for a helping hand.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer who is always checking in on how I am advancing in my course and if there is anything that I need guidance with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider, having worked in various roles within the company is able to offer me expert advice in order to help me complete my apprenticeship tasks. She is aware of my understanding and level of comprehension and is able to communicate effectively so that I am able to understand everything I am working towards.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

By completing an apprenticeship, I can feel my confidence grow with each working day. By being guided through the job role I am able to become knowledgeable in all areas of the field as opposed to being thrown into the job with limited knowledge. Everyone is more understanding of how things may take me slightly longer compared to someone more experience but ultimately it will aid me to become an expert in the long run.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are often different networking and training events hosed by either the company or a partner in which I have been able to attend some in my short time working for Tui so far.
