Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
understanding the foundations of data analytics and building our knowledge of coding. Have lots of help available in terms of learning and have access to lots of learning resources to help us further evolve in analytics and data science. Complete my apprenticeship once a week which allows me lots of time to be able to learn and keep track of my work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme as we get to rotate around the company to see how different departments work and what different projects they work on. This programme has given me the opportunity to complete a level 7 apprenticeship which lets me build on my knowledge and lets me build more of an understanding of data analytics and science to see where I would want to specialise in the future

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to write code in sql and python. Also use tools such as tableau for data visualisation. I have developed on data visualisation through using tableau to create dashboards and also create graphs and charts in powerpoint and excel to show to stakeholders. This has also allowed me to build on my storytelling skills to make sure powerpoint presentations flow and make sense to stakeholders.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure is good as there are 7 rotations available to choose from which gives you a large amount of choice in terms of exposure in the company and seeing different departments. From recently switching teams, I can see how I will grow already and what skills I will grow on from the rotations being an option.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from people at TUI, in terms of my managers and people within my teams. Everyone is open to meetings to help me understand something and willing to give up their time to show me how something works so I can do it in the future confidently.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have regular meetings with my support mentor and my data mentor within my training provider to help me throughout the course and go through any concerns I have. There are office hours which are used for additional support too.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The qualification is great as its solely coding and machine learning focused to allow me to understand the theory behind different models and ML techniques which I may come across at work and need to adopt. This will let me be more confident when needing to create a model in my work as I have the background knowledge from my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some extra curricular activities at TUI; there is TUI book club, a new 5-aside football team created and some teams partake in social activities. Being based outside of London it seems to be more difficult to do these kind of things. However our cohort of data graduates meet up for grad days every 2 months which is nice to get to see everyone.
