Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in the central ticket office in WMP. We process speeding offences, this involves both manually and online. We are in contact with the public through phone calls and emails and try and advise them in any way we can. My apprenticeship is broken up into 3 phases, we`re currently waiting to begin the third.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship in terms of the benefits, as in how much I`ve improved my social skills, talking to others and the public, the friendships I`ve made with the other apprentices makes work a lot more enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I`ve improved on lots of skills such as communication and teamwork since I work closely with the other apprentices and my co workers. I`ve also learnt more computer skills particularity with onedrive and outlook.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
We`re given 6 hours a week to complete our assignments, I wish we had more as its hard to balance with the general work load.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My apprenticeship manager is lovely, extremely helpful and supportive. I know I can go to her if I need help with my assignments, but also any personal issues or issues relating to the office.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Our apprenticeship manager delivers the sessions about the assignments and is always available to email or teams if we have any questions. In terms of our trainers in the office they are harder to contact since they have their own work to do which can be difficult at times.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The assignments sometimes link to the office work which is helpful in understanding the role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
I don`t think so

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend West Midlands Police to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It`s a good place to get started and opens up lots of opportunities within the force.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to West Midlands Police?
The work load is massive, it can be very stressful especially when we`re behind on tasks. Make sure you are social as talking and communicating is so important in the departments. You should have general knowledge about technology and tech systems.
