Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Everyday is new and exciting. I am not based in a room and provide cover for whichever room needs it. This provides me with lots of new learning. I play with the children, provide them comfort when needed, and work with other staff to provide holistic care to the children.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Although the hours are long and the workload can sometimes be difficult, I am really enjoying working and learning with Busy Bees, and wake up excited to come into work. I feel like I am managing and balancing my workload and job well, which makes my experience more enjoyable.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt new skills such as : sign language / Makaton basics, mindfulness techniques for managing stress, outdoor pedagogy, sensory integration practices, child-led learning approaches, trauma-informed care, food allergy management inclusive language practices, and proficiency in using digital documentation tools to enhance practice and efficiency. I have learnt which techniques work best for each child individually and am continuing to learn everyday.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My program is very well organised. Every 8 weeks at my progress review, me and my development coach discuss my progress, discuss future assignments, and figure out which topic I am most interested in learning about at the moment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive my hour every day to complete apprenticeship and off-the-job work. I receive support off my employer if I am struggling with anything, and receive mountains of advice off her. She praises the work I do and reminds me how valued I am in the setting g. So lots of support altogether.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Lots. She always answers my emails with questions in a timely manner, works at my pace and speed, and is very confident in me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Learning new things in my assignments constantly helps me to apply them in my job role, giving me better performance in my role and meaning the children receive better care off me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of extra curricular activities for the children, such as Drama Tots, Bilingual Sing and Football, that I love to get involved in with my colleagues. Furthermore, when celebrating achievements, we go out to meals and throw parties such as the Christmas party. This brings us closer together as a work community and means we can improve our teamwork.

Why?
I wake up everyday excited to go to work, and I think other people deserve to enjoy a workplace that s inclusive. My job and training provider are both brilliant and provide me with holistic learning.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Busy Bees Childcare?
You have to be prepared for lots of crying! It's a job that you will enjoy if you strive to care for those that can't care for themselves and are vulnerable. It's a tiring, but extremely rewarding job, so be prepared for that.
