Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as a practitioner is to care for and make sure all children are safe, happy and getting the best start in life by expanding their development; creating exciting and engaging activities for all children to explore. I help with meal time services and make sure all children are fed and dietary’s are catered for
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I throughly enjoy my program and the work I do each week it is very rewarding each day. Each day is different and there is always something new to learn

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have developed skills in all areas, understanding why each milestone is important for the child’s development aswell as their self esteem and how this can impact them within later life. I have learnt and developed my skills within the SEN area of childcare and been give them opportunity to care for SEN children helping them reach their targets and create new targets for them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The organisation is very good I have monthly catch up sessions with my development coach to make sure I’m on track, talk about my new knowledge and also what I could work on next. I always know I’m supported.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support and encouragement from everyone around me within my setting aswell as my development coach; everyone offers support and guidance when I need it
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

If I ever need help my development coach is always there to help and support me, giving me advice aswell as things to look at and research when needed. I was also given extra monthly sessions when struggling with my functional skills level 2 maths
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helps me to expand my knowledge and reflect on my own practice about how I can provide better support to each children through out the setting rather then just in my base room
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a exchange program that is available to practitioners every year where they get to experience busy bees settings across the world
