Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role involves maintaining factory machinery and equipment. A day-to-day basis involves working on mechanical and electrical faults on plant for planned, unplanned, foreshadowed and non-foreshadowed events.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the programme that I’m on, get on with the people that I work with really well and enjoy the work that I do and the positive impact it has.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
New skills that I’ve learnt include mechanical and electrical principles, fault finding and multitasking. Skills that I have reinforced include job prioritising and effective communication.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is relatively well structured, the training provider have been fairly consistent with their delivery despite a turbulent start to the academic year. The delivery of the programme at work relies on employee initiative and the willingness of other employees to allow you to shadow as well as the programme evolving around the needs of the product and the work itself rather than the needs and requirements of the apprenticeship - competence criteria, KSBs and Knowledge Questions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My employer is fairly supportive, as mentioned other employees are really friendly and do communicate clearly whilst offering useful advice and insights. As far as the direct management network is concerned, although I have had a manager assigned to me, their job title isn't directly linked to the apprentices and often work given or set isn't directly related to the apprenticeship requirements.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider has been extremely supportive as far as the work towards my qualification is concerned. This is done to the kindness and willingness of the lecturers and my assessor who are always able to adapt their approach to convey important messages and work and are always available for questions or extra help. The training provider facilities are more than sufficient and are always available for use.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The course that is being delivered and the qualification that I am working towards is extremely relevant to the role that I fulfil and due to this relevance enables me to be more proactive with the work that I do and also opens avenues for further questions and areas of the industry to be learnt.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are some extra-curricular activities which I can get involved at work, which are circulated and advertised through our emailing channels. The most recent and relevant extra-curricular activity which I have been involved with is the BOOST 2025 - Apprenticeship Networking Development Programme which has been introduced by Premier Foods to enable Apprentices to meet and get to know each other whilst allowing them to see the other Sites that Premier Foods work is carried out and values fulfilled.
